Name of the airport

edit

The airport's name seems to be Lydd Airport, whereas London Ashford Airport is the name of the operator:

  • On the official website, it is called Lydd Airport several times: [1] and [2] talk about "Expansion at Lydd Airport"; [3] says: "Lydd Airport today is operated by London Ashford Airport Ltd." Where London Ashford Airport is used, it is ambiguous whether that refers to the airport or the operator.
  • The licence says "Name of aerodrome: LYDD".
  • Google has 31,300 web pages for "Lydd Airport" and only 13,200 for "London Ashford Airport".
(added: and less than 500 for "Lydd London Ashford Airport" 3247 (talk) 02:29, 29 December 2008 (UTC))Reply

Therefore, I'm moving the article to Lydd Airport. - 3247 (talk) 02:17, 29 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

At some time in the 70s the term "Ashford Airport" was used to refer to Lympne Airport - since closed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.29.18.231 (talk) 18:22, 25 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Lydd airport is only 66.3 km away from Le Touquet airport in france - considerably less than its distance from London. 81.107.147.216 (talk) 01:37, 13 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Runway

edit

The photograph labelled "LAA Runway" is in fact the apron, or tarmac, where aircraft park having left the runway via the taxiway. 62.253.143.2 (talk) 10:56, 1 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
