Seminumerical 04:48, 30 September 2005 (UTC) If Lynne Franks was born in 1959 how can she have founded a company in the 70's at the age of 21?Reply

I have changed it to 1949 based on the fact that she founded it in 1970 according to her website. HollyAm 03:33, 17 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Has Jennifer Saunders revealed if she really was the/an inspiration for the Absolutely Fabulous character Edina Monsoon? Format (talk) 18:48, 21 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Edina is popularly understood to be based on Franks, as numerous citations show. This is notable in itself I think in the same way as other popular misconceptions - but not in fact according to an interview Saunders gave to the Daily Mirror published on 15 September 1998 in which Saunders said "I know that there was someone who thought Absolutely Fabulous was about [Franks]. But the very original inspiration was the mother of a costume person." (BTW the cite in the article seems incorrect). I mention this I think it may be worth noting in the summary. gilgongo (talk) 09:46, 1 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Article overhaul

edit

I've written a much more substantial and better-sourced article, that includes all the information present in the current article and a whole lot more besides. Because it's a major overhaul, I've uploaded it to my userpage - User:Hr2010/Draft of Article and would like to invite feedback and contributions from the community before uploading it to the proper place, in line with proper editing policy. Ok, I've not heard any feedback, so I'm assuming other editors are happy with it..Hr2010 (talk) 07:21, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Hi - as you can see there are advert and puffery tags on the article which I think are largely due to it being a list of achievements of low notability. In order to remove the tag, I've been removing some of the plainer promotional content, but it does need more editing, so will continue with that. gilgongo (talk) 08:22, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia article or CV?

edit

This article certainly is about a PR person, I've never seen so much irrelevant name dropping. Seriously, isn't the previous, to-the-point version [[1]] of this article more 'encyclopedic' than the current version? This isn't an encyclopedic entry, it's a commercial for a PR agency. 94.64.250.191 (talk) 16:00, 15 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

I see that various improvements have been made since the advert tag was added. Some puffery and non-notable facts still exist, but I think we can remove at least the advert tag now. I'd like to re-write the intro to better encompass the article a well. I intend to do both in the next few days. --gilgongo (talk) 18:12, 29 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

BTW I also intend to remove some of the less notable material and puffery in an attempt to make the article more encyclopedic. gilgongo (talk) 10:01, 1 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Following my edits, I contacted @Greyfell to ask if tag(s) could be removed now. They disagreed so I'm stopping any further editing to invite WP:CON. Meanwhile, I suggest the removal of the "Later Work", "SEED" and "V-Day Campaign" sections as excessively promotional. gilgongo (talk) 08:57, 30 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Removal of Public Appearances

edit

There were no particularly notable appearances in this section, which mainly served as puffery. So as to be bold, I have removed it. --gilgongo (talk) 08:34, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
