I think this page is rather poorly documented. Notably the history which is very limited. Some good reference can be found on Google (they may need double checking but are good starting points! Here's a few of them:

Vietnam War

The US nearly levelled the site and all it gets are two perfunctory sentences in the article? It doesn't even mention that the Viet Cong used the site as a base since they knew the US wouldn't bomb it due to its historical significance, and that it took an Act of Congress to get them to do so.
