Boyz

edit

Both this article and the template {{M.I.A.}} list "Boyz" and "Boyz EP" separately. I can't find anything to suggest that there were two completely separate releases of "Boyz". Discogs just shows the 12", CD single and memory stick wristband thingy, all released in 2007. The CD does appear to have been released in July and the others in June (I think) - is this why it's been considered a separate release? Any thoughts.....? -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 14:36, 18 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

MAYA

edit

MAYA appeared on the Canadian Albums at number 7, and I don't know how to cite this. --Aquabender (talk) 16:50, 22 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

"Teqkilla" chart position

edit

Various editors keep adding the claim that this song got to number 93 on the Canadian Hot 100. Billboard, however, specifically state that that song has never charted. Also, their overall chart history page for M.I.A. states that she has only charted one song ("Paper Planes") on the Canadian chart. Is there a reliable source that backs up this claim that "Teqkilla" charted in Canada......? -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 07:39, 29 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Not True, Teqkilla HAS is fact charted at 93; look at the visualizer on Billboard for the Canadian Hot 100. --Aquabender (talk) 00:53, 31 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Oh, and for future reference, Billboard messes up on a lot of it's past history charting, and what you're looking at is probably if it's currently charting, and it isn't anymore, because that was from a previous week. --Aquabender (talk) 00:56, 31 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Got it. Flippin' heck, that was complicated to get to! :-P -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 20:14, 31 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

XXXO (The Remixes, Vol. 2) - EP

edit

This was released on iTunes on June 29th 2010. Can someone please add it? I'm unsure how to. --Aquabender (talk) 00:54, 31 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Jimmy

edit

Jimmy did chart on the US Dance charts, please fix. --Aquabender (talk) 01:47, 22 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

"Jimmy" charted on the Hot Dance Club Songs chart, but the column in this list relates to the Hot Dance Singles Sales chart. "Jimmy" did not chart on that chart as far as I can see from all available sources..... -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 08:42, 22 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

New mixtape

edit

http://vickileekx.com/ M.I.A. has Tweeted this link and she announced this mixtape "Vicky Leekx" about a month ago. It's being released on New Years Eve 2010. My guess is that it will include the couple songs she leaked after the release of /\/\/\Y/\, and hopefully new material! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.180.159.197 (talk) 04:03, 23 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Rye Rye's Go! Pop! Bang!

edit

I was wondering if someone could create a page for Rye Rye's forthcoming album Go! Pop! Bang!, being released on Interscope/N.E.E.T. Recordings. It has a number of songs produced and featuring M.I.A., although not much information has been released about it yet. It was first supposed to be released in Spring 2009 but faced many push backs and supposedly is being released on February 22nd, 2011. But I am uneasy about that since she has stated the last two dates were final, but were pushed back anyway. But I think there is enough information to have a page on it. Sorry this doesn't really have to do with M.I.A., but it does at the same time. I am unsure how to create one. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rye_Rye#Discography —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.180.159.197 (talk) 02:53, 29 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Single/"promotional single"

edit

Maybe I'm just not "down with the kids" enough, but can someone clarify for me (now that an editor has felt the need to show them separately in this list) what consitutes a "promotional single"? As far as I can tell, the only true single from the "Maya" album is "XXXO". This was the only one that got a physical single release, the only one that was played on mainstream radio (at least here in the UK), the only one that was reviewed in magazines (at least here in the UK), etc. Presumably this makes the others "promo singles"....or does it? If not, why not......? -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 19:38, 1 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Actually, I've now discovered that "It Takes a Muscle" got a very small amount of radio play, so I guess that qualifies it as an "official" single too........ -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 19:42, 1 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
A promotional single would generally be one that was physically released but only sent to radio stations etc. to get airplay and not commercially released. I'm a bit puzzled as to how those listed are 'singles' at all unless they existed as physical promos. "Born Free" got plenty of airplay and has a promo video, but does that make it a single?--Michig (talk) 19:46, 1 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
A lot of people seem to use the term "promotional single" to refer to a track which is made available on iTunes ahead of the release of an album but isn't really promoted, but the definition seems a bit hazy, at least to me........... -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 21:21, 4 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

I've just listened to Anoushka Shankar's album Land of Gold and M.I.A. vocals feature on the track Jump In (Cross the line). This track is not listed as part of M.I.A.'s discography and I wondered if it should be added or if performing on album doesn't warrant inclusion?

Thanks for any guidance you can give.
