Talk:M3 road (Malawi)

Well, this seems to be an "article under construction", which is not supposed to be the case for an article that is no-longer a "draft" (an article that is now in mainspace).

A mainspace article is not supposed to show incorrect information or contradicting information at all. But this article has a few issues at the moment:

  1. It seems as though the "Infobox" was just copied from the M1 road (Malawi) article and pasted here without caring if what is written in this "Infobox" actually represents the M3. So, the infobox in this article is for the M1 and NOT the M3.
  2. The "Infobox", as stated above, is not sending the same message as any paragraph that is in this article. How can the "Blantyre-Zomba road", which is stated in the first sentence and which is in southern Malawi, reach Malawi's borderline with Tanzania? This is what I call contradicting information and we shouldn't have different parts of the same article showing totally different things.

So, we should confirm that an article has "the right information" recorded in it before we publish it or move it from Draft mode to Mainspace mode. If a young geographer decides to come to the Wikipedia website to see if they talk about "roads in Malawi", they should not find this article looking like this. In fact, they should not go the M1 road (Malawi) article and then this article and see them looking alike (i.e. the Infobox) as if they are talking about the same stretch of road.

I am not sure if the Malawi Authorities have got any publications describing each & every "route designation in Malawi" that we can look to & so, I will see in a few days (or even a few hours) if I can use Google Maps and OpenStreetMap to put correct information in the Infobox (better than removing it).

Okay; I have done half the job in the Infobox. I have changed the terminus at either direction as well as the cities and provinces that the road passes through and the distance of the route. The only thing left to add to the Infobox is the "junctions". GeographicAccountant (talk) 13:18, 26 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
@GeographicAccountant Indeed, the contents of infobox were similar to that of M1. Thanking you for correcting that. Hey, Malawi doesn't have a special directory site for all its roads. One has to use Google to find such info. Again, there are VERY less Malawian Wikipedians on Wikipedia, a factor that hinders data flow about Malawi and its related interests.
