editWhy is there no exit at the Kirkby junction?
The motorway does not run south of the Orrell area. Orrell is also to the east of the M6, directly adjoining Pemberton. The motorway runs through the western section of Orrell splitting the western section into the north and south areas (see the article), before joining the M6. The motorway is called the Liverpool to Wigan motorway, not the Liverpool to Orrell. Man2 22:19, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Man2
- Actually the Ordnance Survey shows the east of the M6 being Redwoord and Lamberhead Green. Orrell is clearly shown on the west. only. --Regan123 00:09, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
Lamberhead Green is part of Orrell [there is no address saying "##### Rd, Lamberhead Green, Wigan"]. The studios of Wish FM are located on the eastern side of the M6 the address being Orrell Rd, Orrell, Wigan, as is Abraham Guest High School). Orrell is on both sides of the M6 and on the north and south sides of the M58. As I have explained extensively Orrell directly connects to Pemberton (explained in the article). Thanks. - Well if that is true the road ends in Orrell. But the OS map text size clearly indicates that Orrell is given the same status as Wigan. It is therefore not part of Wigan according to the OS map. This is considered a strong and accurate source on Wikipedia. Regan123 01:01, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
Yes I agree, the status of Orrell is a component area of the 'Metropolitan Borough of Wigan', not an integral part of the town itself and the motorway as you correctly show does end in the area. The issue is not the above, but rather the question of if the M58 runs south of the Orrell area. The motorway runs through the western section of the area, splitting it into the northern and southern areas, with the northern part being referred to as 'Orrell Post', however the northern section is also present on the eastern side of the motorway. I can confirm that the M6 and the M58 dissect Orrell, like Man2 says. Also, neither motorway enters Wigan. The M58 ends at Orrell, like Regan says, but it also ends in Bootle at it's other end, so doesn't (technically) connect Wigan to Liverpool. 80.192.242.187 21:33, 15 February 2007 (UTC) JemmyH.
Jun 2 wa going to be with the M59 Liverpool-Preston
