editI suggest that the person who stated that "The freeway then changes its name to the Metropolitan Ring Road east of the interchange with Sydney Road" check again, as the name (Western Ring Rd) has been extended to the Hume Freeway. The Metropolitan Ring Road signage currently at Sydney Road predates the opening of the Hume Freeway and therefore has not been updated to reflect this. --Sk-4 (talk) 05:43, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
- Provide a citation. The only unambiguous signage on the road for the region between Sydney Rd and the Hume Fwy is the km markers on the side. Aspirex (talk) 02:53, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
- Have you travelled the freeway east towards the Hume Fwy interchange? Every sign southbound on the Hume Freeway states that the Metropolitan Ring Road is to the east, and Western Ring Road is to the west. In addition, the roadway between Sydney Rd and Hume Fwy was redeclared as the Western Ring Road as of January 2007. - No, I only ever travel west; it makes getting home difficult, though... deadpan humour. I believe the eastbound sign declares Metro Ring Road at the Sydney Road interchange; nevertheless, the citation of redeclaration is all that matters. Don't know why they would bother, though. Probably worth mentioning somewhere that that section changed its name. Aspirex (talk) 09:30, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Disambiguation style
editNote: There is a proposal at WT:AURD#Move_articles_to_bracket_disambiguation to rename this article (and others) to conform to the WP:AURDNAME guideline – specifically, using brackets instead of a comma for disambiguation. - Evad37 [talk] 08:54, 18 September 2014 (UTC)

Western Ring Road
editDespite how much I love the sound of calling this road the "M80" (matey), it is rarely, if ever, referred to as the M80 Ring Road. It is most commonly known as the "Western Ring Road", which is acknowledged in the article ("more formally known as the Western Ring Road"), and occasionally the "Ring Road" for short. What's the justification of this article's naming convention of the "M80 Ring Road"?
It doesn't align with the style of other major Melbourne roads/highways/freeways, such as the Tullamarine Freeway, Calder Highway, Sydney Road, etc.
I propose that the article's title should be "Western Ring Road"
Move to “Western Ring Road/Metropolitan Ring Road”
editHi all, I think that there are grounds to move this page to “Western Ring Road/Metropolitan Ring Road” as the name of the article (M80 Ring Road) doesn’t really make sense as no other Australian freeway articles have the freeway designation. I think that, if there is no argument to move this page then I will just do it myself
