I'm still adding to this article. Planned new sections include Distortion of the view, Imaging.

Most of the work on METATOYs so far has been done at the University of Glasgow. We are trying to change this, and this article is part of this effort.

We are trying to be as inclusive as possible of other peoples' work. Please, please, add references to related work if you happen to know about some!

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to 2 external links on METATOY. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Acronym statement doesn't make sense

edit

The acronym for metamaterial for rays would be MFR or possibly MR: an acronym is formed from the initial letters of the words.

Clearly the name combines the prefix meta- from metamaterial with the letters T, O and Y, but I can't see any connection between TOY and for rays, and even if I could, that still wouldn't make it an acronym . . .

The name does need explaining, but calling it an acronym adds confusion and for me, the distraction of having my brain try to solve a word puzzle when I'm meant to be reading about the physics. Musiconeologist (talk) 04:00, 27 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

I suppose the T and O could be from telescopic and optical and the whole thing derived from something like METAmaterial in the form of Telescopic Optical components in an arraY?? In which case it would be a kind of contraction. Musiconeologist (talk) 04:13, 27 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
