July 2015: This article needs additional citations for verification.

edit

Good day, Walter. Could you briefly indicate what item(s) necessitated the cleanup tag. I'm not certain where the objection lies. Thanks. -- Mikeylito  ► talk 19:19, 25 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

I will tag individual items instead. It seems you're missing the obvious. Walter Görlitz (talk) 19:37, 25 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
Just a brief comment.
I'll supply the additional citations requested, even though one of them merely repositions a citation from after a comma to the end of sentence. As for the date formats, it's my understanding that is not a policy. The dates were formatted by the citation templates that appear in the edit box's toolbar. I'm not going to edit-war date formats, but if Wikipedia wants that kind of conformity, they should change the tool. US users aren't the only English speakers reading.

I resolved "most" of issues brought up earlier, supplying additional references as needed,
As for MOS:DATEFORMAT, the very first example that comes up when you check that section are dates in dmy format. As aforementioned, those are the date formats generated when using the citation templates in the editbox toolbar.
Additionally, it's argumentative whether articles on association football have "strong national ties to a topic." Regardless, the general use format is more than sufficient for Usonians (or Americans, if you prefer) to understand. So, for the first and last time, I reverted the dates changed back to dmy format invoking the principle of WP:IAR. I have no intention of editing the dates again.
Finally, on the topic of "Personalities", I'll attempt to find some citations to back up those entries. I added that section to maintain consistency with other article about broadcast sports. However, they all seem to share the same problem of people using anecdotal knowledge rather than citation. In my mind, the entire section can easily be deleted.

As for date format, WP:STRONGNAT applies here. Walter Görlitz (talk) 00:30, 26 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
