MMA refers to quite a few possible terms. It occurs questionable if the decision to list all terms in alphabetical order is a good one.
- Even people who know what they are looking for need quite a while to spot the desired entry
- It is not obvious what usage is most common.
Ordering entries by usage might be difficult to achieve. Instead, we could use the size of the referred article as an apt criteria.
Another usability proposal is to group the entries by categories, such as: Organisations and Companies; Products; Scientific Terms; ...
Yet another grouping could be done by subjects / fields of interest (Science, Medicine, IT, ...)
Uhm its quite common that MMA refers to "Mixed Martial Arts" how should i link that? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.240.201.120 (talk) 14:11, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
- It appears to be the fifth item on the list already. Kuru talk 03:13, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

MMA to MMA_(disambiguation)
editHi, I think this page should be moved to MMA_(disambiguation), which I think is its proper location. I will make a request to do this on the 'Uncontroversial technical requests' page.
I hope to then redirect the 'MMA' base name to 'Mixed martial arts', which I believe is its primary usage. On the 'Mixed martial arts' page I will then put a hatnote which links to the MMA_(disambiguation) page.
Would everyone be ok with these changes?RickyBennison (talk) 17:00, 19 July 2017 (UTC)

MMA → MMA (disambiguation) – it is a disambiguation page which is incorrectly titled and taking the base name place. Assuming this move goes ahead, I afterwards plan to redirect 'MMA' to 'Mixed martial arts', which I believe is the primary topic for the term MMA. On the 'Mixed martial arts' page, I will link to the disambiguation page via a hatnote. Thanks. RickyBennison (talk) 20:59, 19 July 2017 (UTC)

- @RickyBennison: Making a claim for a primary topic in this manner needs discussion, considering the correlation between "MMA" and "Mixed martial arts" may not necessarily be a world-wide view of the acronym. However, I have no opinion either way. Steel1943 (talk) 21:48, 19 July 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose - there are far too many meanings of "MMA" - including many prominent and significant topics - for any one to ever be primary. bd2412 T 14:55, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
- Which other ones are prominent? I see a defunct airline and an art museum that never appears to actually be referred to as "MMA". None of the others look significant. —Xezbeth (talk) 15:09, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
- Money market account seems pretty significant to begin with - the state of our article notwithstanding, it is one of the more basic investment vehicles. As for the art museum, try googling "exhibit at the MMA". bd2412 T 15:14, 20 July 2017 (UTC)

- Support, clear case of WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, per page view statistics, and it takes until the 6th page of google search just to find any other result with no search bias. Evertonfc13 (talk) 17:06, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
- @Evertonfc13: Search engines themselves are biased and show its user results for the country which the search engine is located. For example, there is http://google.com (for United States-based results) and http://google.co.uk (for UK-based results.) Steel1943 (talk) 18:35, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
- @Steel1943: I used the modified Google search string on WP:DETERMINEPRIMARY, but yes, you are correct. Evertonfc13 (talk) 18:44, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
- @Evertonfc13: I didn't know about WP:DETERMINEPRIMARY until today. The Google search link located there is rather helpful. Steel1943 (talk) 21:55, 20 July 2017 (UTC)

- Support. Per evidence above, mixed martial arts is the primary topic for "MMA". No such user (talk) 21:04, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
- Support, accepting Steel1943's comments about country location influencing search results, I do think that it is very significant, in terms of assessing usage, that on Bing, Yahoo, and Google, (.co.uk or .com) that results related to Mixed Martial Arts overwhelmingly come up for a search of MMA.RickyBennison (talk) 12:44, 29 July 2017 (UTC)
- Support. Obvious primary topic. The sole oppose does not sway me. Anarchyte (work | talk) 10:08, 31 July 2017 (UTC)

editIn much of Africa, "Mma" is also a polite title when addressing a female, much like "Mrs." in English. Should that be added? --Shadow (talk) 21:46, 3 February 2018 (UTC)
