In the Return to Racing section of this entry, I removed The "United States Superbike Championships" from the entry listing the different Superbike Championships MV was planning on running. The MV Agusta team (FBF) that was planning on running in that series, withdrew because lack of sponsorship. The MV Agusta "312" is listed as the "Known to be the fastest production motorcycle". I think this needs clarification as being the "Claims the highest top speed of current production motorcycles.". The Suzuki Hayabusa claimed a higher top speed before the Japanese manufacturers limited the top speed to 299 km/h from 319 km/h. These numbers based on the Wikipedia entry for Hayabusa. In both cases, the numbers are manufacturer claims and all current bikes are limited. I don't think it is important at all, but I think "Manufacturer Claimed" and "Current" are important especially for a Wikipedia entry. Top speeds and horsepowers can be quite questionable and variable.

I would suggest that unproven, or even documented top speed claims would be best left off wikipedia.Wiredrabbit (talk) 22:25, 13 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Divestment of MV Agusta - has it happened? Is it happening?

edit

Harley-Davidson announced late last year that it was divesting its ownership of MV Agusta. Has there been more recent information about this? Are they talking to prospective buyers? Have they changed their mind? Any published information on this situation at all?

I suppose I would have heard if they had abruptly shut it down like they did with Buell, so I will assume that they haven't.
