Is that really the name of the group?
editI find this sentence a bit awkward: "Beginning in 2002 the Los Angeles Police Department, and business, and community leaders of the Alliance: Macarthur Park led a revitalization effort ..."
As I read it, there's a community group called "Alliance: MacArthur Park." Is that right? If so, I'd like to suggest rewording that sentence to something like this:
"Beginning in 2002 the Los Angeles Police Department, along with business [NOTE: I'm taking out this comma anyhow :)] and community leaders of the community group Alliance: Macarthur Park, led a revitalization ..."
The problem with a group with a feistily punctuated name is that it looks odd in sentences unless explained a bit, like e.e. cummings.
*?

Bandshell restored
editThe bandshell has been restored, and is now host to a summer concert series. I'll gather some info and add it to the article. FloBrio 06:07, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
Still Criminal?
editHmmm - I was at the park today and at the subway station and I did not see anyone hawking fake IDs. Also, I use the station almost every day and have NOT seen that activity (OK - my Spanish is perhaps not up to knowing this)... the worst I have seen around the park is that there are still a number of homeless people in and around it and Alvarado is quite crowded with Latin street business, mainly phone cards, hot dogs, fruit , CDs and DVDs (I do not know if the titles are pirated). Also, I saw that LAPD had a contingent of officers on horseback in the park today. I could not figure a good way to edit the sentence which claimed that people offer fake ID, so I have left that to a more astute editor. L. Greg 23:36, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
- I just bought some fake documents from Mcarthur park and i must say the stuff is crap. These guys need to retake some classes on photoshop. P.S., these guys don't sell id's on the street like people are selling apples. They find people who look like potential customers. If you're white, they probably won't approach you. Their clientel is mostly Mexican. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.108.20.180 (talk) 03:30, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
- This is still quite commonplace, centered around the intersection of 6th St and Alvarado. Immigrants may be their main business, but they do indeed offer discreetly to white people as well, I've been psssst-ed on many many occasions, most often in front of Bank of America on the northwest corner, and often while driving and turning that corner. I don't have a handly link to use as a reference, but I can say without doubt that it's happening, and pretty widely known throughout the city, at least by those that have even a remote interest in said documents – cacahuate talk 21:35, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
History
editThe whole article does not give the year of the name change to MacArthur Park.
Wasn't the general present for the dedication ceremony? Aren't there any photos of him actually there in the park? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.155.254.171 (talk) 03:24, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
Size?
editHow big is it? Does anyone know its size by acreage or square miles? Ileanadu (talk) 17:37, 2 May 2017 (UTC)
