Specifying general availability date
editSaying MacOS Monterey will be released on later in 2021 seems way too broad. It’s implying that it will be released on either September, October, November, or December. The Apple website said it will be released later this fall. Meaning either September, October, or November. So Maybe we should change the date to this fall or 3rd quarter of the year. Even if it’s winter in Australia and the Southern Hemisphere right now, 3rd quarter(September, October, November) is a universal date recognized by all countries.69.244.83.111 (talk) 20:27, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
- It's out now today (September 20, 2021) so issue is moot. Jimthing (talk) 23:25, 19 September 2021 (UTC)
- [Citation needed] on the claim that it's out:
- there's no sign of a release candidate build on the Apple releases page;
- iOS 15 has an availability date on its page on the Apple Web site, iPadOS 15 has an availability date on its page on the Apple Web site, and watchOS 8 has an availability date on its page on the Apple Web site, but for Monterey its page on the Apple Web site just says "coming this fall";
- there is no reason whatsoever why Monterey must come out on the same day that iOS 15/iPadOS 15/watchOS 8 comes out. Guy Harris (talk) 00:18, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
- And:
- MacRumors says "...a release date for macOS 12 Monterey has yet to be announced.";
- 9to5Mac says that, at the September event, one thing Apple didn't announce was the Monterey release date;
- there was a month between the availability of iOS/iPadOS 14 and macOS Big Sur. Guy Harris (talk) 00:41, 20 September 2021 (UTC)

Please do not rename this to "macOS 12 Monterey" without discussion
editIf this should be renamed "macOS 12 Monterey", then macOS Big Sur should be renamed "macOS 11 Big Sur", and macOS Catalina should be renamed "macOS 10.15 Catalina", and ..., and Mac OS X Jaguar should be renamed "Mac OS X 10.2 Jaguar". There is nothing special about Monterey that causes it to deserve such a renaming, and nobody so far has suggested that the version numbers need to be included in the names of macOS version pages other than 10.0 and 10.1 (for which the big cat code name wasn't used publicly for marketing). Box on changes section saying it may work better as prose
editI don't think it would, it being a list makes it much more readable, and it makes it easier to see all the changes. Because of this I'm going to remove the box (I think, I'm not entirely sure how but I think I can figure it out) VintageJournaling (talk) 03:57, 24 December 2021 (UTC)
