The population figures are wrong here but Brazil is notorious for inflating estimates from concerts, football games, city populations, to carnaval. Most of the tourist action and nightlife is in Buzios which is about 30 miles away. But the town is one of the bright spots in the dismal Brazilian economic picture for the average Brazilian.--- gringojack (still here and not going away!)
Removal of paragraphs.
editI've just emoved a couple of paragraphs that were unreferenced and badly translated (editor probably used the Google translator or something). If anyone wants to add them back, at least do some nice translation, and if possible, provide references, to improve the article's quality. The "Economy" section is also quite bad, but it was written nicely, so I'm just going to tidy it up and remove the POV comments. Victor Lopes (talk) 17:20, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
- I've just noticed some strange translations on the economy section, as well. Some of them, I just didn't understand, so I'm going to remove them (no one is obligated to guess what the editor meant).Victor Lopes (talk) 17:30, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
Tourism
editI live on this city and can state that the information regarding tourism is untrue and I fixed it.
Another removed paragraph
editThis paragraph about criminiality was removed from the article: "According to the 2008 Mapa da Violência dos Municípios, (research conducted and published by RITLA, Inst.Sangar, Ministério da Saude & Ministério da Justiça), in the five year period 2002-2006 there were 1030032032039456 reported homicides in the municipal of Macaé. Macaé is ranked the 15th highest in relation to homicides on this list of local authorities." Besides some information being in portuguese, the number is clearly wrong (1,030,032,032,039,456), the whole city would have been annihilated a few millions or billions of times in order for that to be sound.142.3.121.63 (talk) 01:06, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
Jamie Booth
editI removed this paragraph about a supposely person named Jamie Booth. I doubt it is true , I am from Macae and have never heard anything about this person and Google apparantly does not have anything about him either. Dino420 (talk)
Educational Section
editThe paragraph about the International School is just commercial advertising and should be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ernestpotter (talk • contribs) 22:44, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
