In notes wouldn't this "His grandmother, Macrina, under whom he received his juvenile education, and his first impressions of piety, had been, in her youth, a hearer of Gregory Thaumaturgus, in Pontus ; for whom she inspired her young scholar with a profound and lasting veneration," be referring to Macrina the Elder?--T. Good monring, some biographical information have been added by this recent academic paper. It is the unique paper to be listed by DOAJ on this subject matter. The conclusion compares virginity to the life of angels, who are created bodiless and invisible by God, and to a sacrifice for the good of the Christ's spouse, which is the Roman Catholic Church itself. In the intro the article comments that Marina lived a chaste and humble life. This is not particularly distinctive of a saint as all believers should emulate these values. If the article wishes to refer to Macrina’s celibacy it should say so. Revjem (talk) 15:42, 19 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
