Map is wrong

edit

The map is wrong. I change it by the correct map which includes all the cities you propose in the table. Congratulations, good article. Torrejonero 15:50 1 sep 2006

Aranjuez

edit

The southern appendix, which is Aranjuez, is NOT part of the metropolitan area. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.207.70.242 (talk) 00:57, 24 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Villaverde?

edit

I thought Villaverde is one of the municipal districts? Or am I wrong...? -- Mukk 04:37, 6 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, you're right.

This not the case. It ranks 8th behind:

1 Moskau Moskau 17,1 Mio. 2 London London 16,8 Mio. 3 Istanbul 12 Mio. 4 Île-de-France 11,8 Mio. 5 Rhein-Ruhr 11,8 Mio. 6 Lombardei 9,8 Mio. 7 Randstad 8 Mio. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.187.171.38 (talk) 10:43, 14 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Is Istanbul in European Union? and Moskow? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.218.20.23 (talk) 16:14, 17 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
According to its article, Moscow is in Europe (and is the largest city). And Istanbul also claims to be the most populous European city. Hmm. But yes, Istanbul is also European because Turkey is a part of the EU. Also, according to Largest European cities and metropolitan areas, Madrid is #7:
    1. . Moscow (14,744,150)
    2. . Istanbul (13,179,865)
    3. . London (13,063,441)
    4. . Paris (11,818,503)
    5. . Rhine-Ruhr (11,817,132)
    6. . Randstad (6,579,720)
    7. . Madrid (6,270,551)
    8. . Greater Manchester/Liverpool (5,019,446)

Rusia and Turkey are not in the European Union (European Union ≠ Europe), and the Randstad region is not a metropolitan area, but a conurbation. Anyway, it's right that the position in the ranking of Madrid varies between the third and the forth, according to considering the Rhine-Ruhr region as a metropolitan area or not.--Phirosiberia (talk) 11:46, 26 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Defintion

edit

How are metropolitan areas calculated in Spain? Is it a measurement of commuting? Is it a measurement of contiguous built-up areas? This probably should be made clear somewhere on the page. --Criticalthinker (talk) 13:18, 7 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Not so big in Europe?

edit

The population is not 6.4 million people, that's Madrid province, not the metropolitan area. The metropolitan area of Madrid has 5.285.242 inhabitants. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Enric (talkcontribs) 20:23, 15 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
