Revolver
Could the cylinder in a revolver be correctly called a magazine? Seems to me it is functionally identical to a fixed rotary mag... and not even fixed as many revolvers have removable cylinders for speedloading. --Jquarry 22:46, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- The magazine just holds and feeds ammunition - the revolver cylinder also forms the chamber that the ammunition is fired from. Georgewilliamherbert 22:49, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- So no, a revolver's cylinder is NOT a magazine. Veritas Panther 06:01, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- In that case, the DAO-12 shotgun needs to be removed from the examples of guns with drum magazines: it's functionally just a really big revolver firing 12-gauge shotgun shells. What it has is a 12-round cylinder, not a drum mag. 71.203.209.0 18:13, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- Interchangeable (aka removable) cylinders, which are quite rare, are for changing caliber/cartridge type (i.e. 9mm in a .357) and are not in any way conducive to fast reloading. Swing-out cylinders, on the other hand, make for an incredibly fast reload in the right hands. Jerry Miculek, the undisputed master of the revolver, has managed 6 shots, a reload, and 6 more shots in under 3 seconds. All revolver cylinders are removable for cleaning, servicing, etc, by the way.
How important is this
Are people actually losing sleep over the clip/mag issue? Oh no, I called a magazine a clip! Quick, call out the national guard! Help! Help! He used incorrect terminology! I'll never be the same! AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Geez people.
Please sign your post and this is not a forum. We are teaching people about a magizine not a clip so in this case it does matter and people argue over it is to make this page very well made. and if you dont have a wikipedia profile i encourage you to make one that way you can voice your opinions and not seem like a coward(ForeverDEAD 23:19, 17 August 2007 (UTC))
