No evidence for copyvio
editThe copyvio tag should be removed. The indicated source, [1], is simply a Wikipedia mirror. The user who tagged this as a copyvio, The Mad Genius, listed it at Wikipedia:Copyright_problems/2007_March_20/Articles with the comment:
- Note that the brainyencyclopedia page says it got some of it's content from Wikipedia. However, the formatting in the Magellanic Stream makes it nearly certain that the content was pasted from brainyencyclopedia.
but there's no indication of what characteristics of the formatting he's talking about. It looks like a Wikipedia article to me. Moreover, the alleged source includes a note at the bottom:
- "The Wikipedia article included on this page is licensed under the GFDL."
I would remove the copyvio tag as patently silly, but it seems only admins may do so. --Reuben 23:53, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
- I didn't realize that brainyencyclopedia was a mirror. The formatting issue is that the line breaks in the article source text match the formatting of the brainyencyclopedia article. Seems like a chicken-and-egg problem, but I agree there doesn't appear to be an actual copyvio problem at this point. The Mad Genius 03:21, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
- The line breaks match because the whole article was copied verbatim to brainyencyclopedia (which is perfectly legitimate). --Reuben 17:29, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
I'm going to declare this closed, as the source for brainyencyclopedia being here and history here appear pretty consistent and not a Copyvio problem. Georgewilliamherbert 23:43, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
This article needs some expert work!

Contradictory descriptions
editThis article says the Magellanic Stream connects the two Magellanic Clouds. The stub on the Magellanic Bridge states that the Bridge and the Stream are not to be confused, and that the Bridge connects the two Magellanic Clouds, but the Stream connects the Magellanic Clouds to the Milky Way. Could someone who has outside information, familiar with the difference, please bring both pages into agreement? --Yoda of Borg (talk) 22:11, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
- This issue has still not been resolved. Because this is a very serious issue that comprimises the integrity of the articles, I've tagged both articles. --JorisvS (talk) 18:19, 23 February 2013 (UTC)
- Fixed. The references in this article are a mess, with many parenthetical references without the full ref listed in the references section. (The references are all valid and appropriate, though.) —Alex (ASHill | talk | contribs) 19:51, 28 July 2013 (UTC)

Confusion
editThe article seems to confuse the Magellanic Stream with the Magellanic Stream Leading Arm which is a patchy feature on the other side of SMC/LMC in direction from the originally discovered Magellanic Stream trailing feature. Just consult the maps in http://hubblesite.org/news_release/news/2018-15, for proof of this! Rursus dixit. (mbork3!) 19:28, 7 April 2018 (UTC)
