Meaning of the name

edit

Hi, Does any one know what Magnus means??? I am trying to assimilate all the details, every single piece possible about 'Magnus'. Lemme know if you know of some good source where i can get such data...

It's apparently from Latin and means "great", "big" (magnus). Brandmeister 23:12, 30 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

The original intro paragraph was taken, word for word, from Exiles #1 p14 - the scene where the Timebroker introduces Magnus to the team. Accordingly, I've deleted it. We could use a longer replacement intro, though. --Mrph 23:40, 2 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

→Problem: now that it is no longer there, how do we know what to put? →Problem 2: What the heck does electromagnetic energy have to do with flight?

Re: EM & flight--

The "official" explanation for Magneto/Magnus' flight powers in the Marvel Universe is the his personal magnetic field interacts with the Earth's magnetic field, allowing them to repel each other, essentially a form of magnetic levitation (wouldn't work in the real world, of course, but comic book physics can be very forgiving). -- Noclevername 07:56, 31 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Requested move

edit

Propose that the article be moved to a namespace like a host of other Marvel characters, and, the Magnus (comics) be utilized for Roberto Raviola, commonly known as the Magnus (of comics), more so than the fictional alternate universe-son of Magneto. Anyone have strong feelings and good reason why not? Murghdisc. 07:48, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

No strong feelings about it, I agree in general to this move. Fram 09:07, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Ok, having waited a few days this seems not controversial and I'll make the move. Murghdisc. 19:59, 9 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ordering of characters

edit

I know that the Magneto-Magnus is probably both more notable, and more well-known, but isn't it standard to have the oldest-appearing character shown first? I don't have any strong feelings about this; just wondering. 24.148.15.188 06:49, 14 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
