Location of mosque
editThe mosque is not really in Eminönü - think that is a reference to the old administrative district which was merged into the Fatih district some 10 years ago. So ideally 'Eminönü' should be removed from title, something Im unable to do. Perhaps an editor who's been at this longer could do it...? Ealinggirl1954 (talk) 19:42, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
- Agreed, it's always sounded odd. The disambiguator could be simplified to "Istanbul"; most place articles don't get more specific than the overall city. And indeed it's not clear that the article title needs a disambiguator at all; there may be another Mahmud Pasha Mosque somewhere, but there's no other article for another one at the moment, and I can't think of one off the top of my head. There's the Zal Mahmud Pasha Mosque, but the "Zal" is always included in that name.
- If no one can find another "Mahmud Pasha Mosque" that's reasonably well-known, I think we can remove the disambiguator altogether. I can do this myself when I'm less busy in a week or two, which leaves time for any further comments here. Otherwise, I don't think an RM process is needed. - As soon as I published that comment, I remembered the Mosque of Mahmud Pasha in Cairo. The article there has a different name currently, but it could easily go by this name too. So "Mahmud Pasha Mosque, Istanbul" should be specific enough here. I'll move it to that later if there are no objections or other recommendations. R Prazeres (talk) 19:47, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
