Sejarah Melayu (Malay Annals) actually wrote before 1511 in Malacca; existed earlier than 1612

In text book of Sejarah Tingkatan 1 (History Form 1) in Malaysia, there mentions about the real written date of Sejarah Melayu (Malay Annals).

I translated the texts from the text book below:

"Sejarah Melayu was written at Malacca and brought together when Sultan Mahmud Shah fled from Malacca in the year 1511. In the year 1528, the original naskhah (copy) brought to Johor from Kampar.

The Portuguese seized the naskhah Sejarah Melayu in year 1536 during attacking the Old Johor (Johor Lama). The naskhah brought back to Johor by Orang Kaya Suguh. In the year 1612, Tun Sri Lanang recopy and repair the naskhah Sejarah Melayu."

P/S: The note about Sejarah Melayu on the book is placed at the right of the page 111 under Pencerna Minda; published by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka Malaysia; the first print of 2002. ~ Maybe someone can edit the article on Malay Annals (Sejarah Melayu).

I found the journal (other reference besides the text book) about this matter. I mean, about the original Malay Annals (Sejarah Melayu) that was called "Hikayat Melayu" and was brought together by the Sultan when he fled in 1511 AD, besides has been told in the secondary school text book. Tun Bambang was the messenger from Sultan to ask Tun Sri Lanang to edit/compile the Sejarah Melayu

There were about 29 versions of the manuscript but the most popular was the Shellabear's version. According to the preface of Sejarah Melayu (Malay Annals) of Shellabear naskhah (copy), Yang diPertuan Raja di Hilir Sultan Abdullah Mu'ayat Syah ibni'l Sultan Abdul Jalil Syah had sent Seri Nara Wangsa Tun Bambang to ask Bendahara Paduka Raja Tun Muhammad@Mahmud (Tun Sri Lanang)on Thursday, 12 Rabiul Awal 1021 corresponds to 13 May 1612 to edit the naskhah of Sejarah Melayu which brought by Orang Kaya Suguh(Sogoh) from Goa(Gowa).

For your information, it was not written by Tun Bambang. There was somebody confused. Tun Bambang was a messenger to ask Tun Sri Lanang to edit/compile the Sejarah Melayu (Malay Annals).

'Semi-mythological'

@Graham87: @Orhanghazi: Hi its been 7 years since the last chat here! As recent editors, I would like an opinion. From a few historical sources, the Malay Annals has been described as 'mythological' or 'semi-mythological' which I think is more accurate. The existing 'romanticised history' does not convey this. Do you have objections to replace the term or perhaps add to it as in 'romanticised semi-mythological' Malay Annals? or other alternatives?. Shiok (talk) 01:23, 8 December 2016 (UTC)

the term 'romanticized history' was taken from Unesco's publication. And Britannica describes it as 'romanticized' too. If you read the annals properly, the 'mythology' is actually covers only at the beginning. It is wrong to dismiss the work entirely as a historical account. There are many other authors describe it as 'semi-historical'. Ø:G (talk) 12:04, 9 December 2016 (UTC)
