RE: ==Malek Shafi'i's Wiki==

I'm writing this on behalf of Mr. Malaek Shafi'i, someone whom I have never met. But I have been in communication with him. If he added to his Wiki it's likely that he NEEDED to because he is currently in hiding in Afghanistan; hiding from the Taliban.

I am in communication with Mr. Shafi'i by fate, luck, or a higher power and I am trying to help him get out of that hell pit of a country (no offense but I'm sure the vast majority of Afghans would agree...). I volunteer for "Helping Our Afghan Allies", a group working very hard to get the Afghan's, as well as the remaining Americans. out of Afghanistan following the horrendous, failed 2021 drawdown by Joe Biden, "President" of the United States. I am personally doing everything in my power to get him out.

As far as his Wiki, please leave it in place! I notice that it hasn't bothered anyone in quite some time,- (I think the last comment in Talk was 2008 or 2018. Whatever the fates have in store for Malaek, his Wiki should be left as a testament to his great creativity, caring for his people, and his grit, and determination in adversity - grit that most American's are deign to see as a positive in these strange times.

If his page is incorrectly formatted, I will personally do all that I can to fix it, with my very limited knowledge of Wikipedia. The reason I mention it is because I find it a bit amusing to see that even Wikipedia has rules, quite stringent rules at that. I have generally assumed that Wikipedia would be as accurate as possible, with an editorial board checking for factual representation, spelling, grammar, and clarity. I do respect the fact that you have the guidelines, however, because not everyone is a writer, nor editor, nor formatter. I am the former, not the latter.

If I find that there is a need for a chronical of the Afghan conflict, I intent to try contributing to that Wiki. I did not serve there but did serve in the USAF from 1990-1994. I would be an excellent historian of the events leading up to, during, and following the failed campaign. If my contribution can, in a small way, help to serve as a historical reference and, perhaps, a guide for future generations NOT to follow, I will be glad to do this. Especially in honor of our troops, and the fallen.

As for Malaek Shafi'i's Wiki, I beg you to please leave it up. When he finally escapes from Afghanistan, he will likely continue his work honoring his people. From what little I can ascertain about Mr. Shafi'i between late night emails and snippets of conversation, I can tell that he is honest, kind, and if he did indeed contribute to his autobiography to some degree, I don't know what the problem would be in that. And if it is a problem, I will work to assist him to complete it, polish it up, and, hopefully, format it properly so it can remain there. It will likely become an important testament to the man and his great courage during a very, very difficult period in history. As a general rule, the Afghan people are more honest than most Americans and I can't imagine that Malaek would embellish his CV in any way and I intend to help "clear his name".

Hi Debbe, thanks for offering to help improve this article. The notices at the top of the article don’t mean the article is at risk of deletion, just that there are issues with the article that need attention. Since Wikipedia is edited completely by volunteers, and with over 6 million articles, it’s not unusual for one to get limited attention and be stagnant over multiple years.
This edit request process works best if you suggest specific changes (e.g., “delete [this text]”, “change [this text] to [this text]”, “add [this text] here”, etc.).
As you’ve become aware, there are numerous policies and guidelines (far too many for any new editor to know right away). These policies and guidelines are important in order for Wikipedia to meet standards despite being edited by so many different people. Some policies and guidelines to be aware of for this article are:
  • Everything on Wikipedia needs to be verifiable by readers, so original research isn’t allowed. It’s also very important that you provide reliable sources for any suggested edits.
  • Articles should be written from a neutral point of view. This means Wikipedia articles should summarize what reliable sources say, without editorializing. The article should still talk about Shafi’i’s important work, but should minimize effusiveness.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Best, Politanvm talk 20:59, 17 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
