editI would hope writers' written English would be better than this. Cutugno (talk) 15:32, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
Note by Adilkorkmaz moved here from article:
- NOTE: In Turkish version of this article, the writer argues that Malhun Hatun or Mala Hatun (not Mal Hatun) was not the daughter of Sheik Edebali, she was the daughter of an Anatolian Turk Bey (Lord) Ömer Bey. The second wife of Osman I was Rabia Bala Hatun and just she was the daughter of Sheik Edebali. Both Mala Hatun and Rabia Bala Hatun was Turk, not Byzantine pride as being the some wives of the next emperors.
Father's name
editIn the article Orhan I (why Orhan I, there is no Orhan II) it is claimed that her father was a certain Abdülaziz Bey. Moreover in Turkish Wikipedia, her father's name is given as Ömer Bey. Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 12:34, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

1st or 2nd wife
editLimorina, I know it is highly likely that Malhun is Osman's first wife historically, but people are disputing this a lot recently, so we should probably find a source for this, either for the body or the lead. IronManCap (talk) 10:35, 25 February 2021 (UTC)

Malhun Hatun, the second lady of Kayı Tribe
editIt has been proven that Osman Bey, the first king and founder of the Ottoman dynasty, had two wives, the daughters of Sheikh Edebali and Ömer Bey.It was proved that Osman was in love with Sheikh Adbali's daughter and that his marriage to Ömer Bey’s daughter was a political one.At this point there are some disagreements among historians, some say that when Osman went to propose to Sheikh Edebali's daughter, the sheikh did not give his daughter to Osman. When he became a Bey, he would not be left without a spouse and he had to marry someone and he chose Ömer Bey's daughter. After a while, he went to ask again because he was in love with the sheikh's daughter, this time the sheikh accepted and Osman got his love. There are also those who say that the sheikh did not give his daughter to Osman when he first went to ask for it, but after a while the sheikh agreed and two lovers met before Osman became a Bey.A few years later, when Sheikh's daughter did not have a child, it was decided that Osman would get married again and he married Ömer Bey's daughter. It means that all historians agree that Osman was in love with Sheikh Edebali's daughter and that his marriage to Ömer Bey’s daughter was a political marriage. But there is disagreement here again, some say sheikh Edebali's daughter's name is Bala, some say it is Malhun. However, any source says that the name of Ömer Bey's daughter is Malhun, and there is not even a document showing that the name of Ömer Bey's daughter is Bala.So the most likely thing here is that Sheikh Edebali's daughter's name is Bala, and Ömer's daughter is Malhun. Again, there is a disagreement here, some say Orhan's mother is Bala, some say it is Malhan. But it is more likely to be Bala, for these reasons:Her name was Bala, but Rabia Bala was written on the tomb, just like Şermi Kadın, the wife of Sultan Ahmed III.Her name was Şermi, but Rabia Şermi was written on her tomb, and she took the name Rabia Şermi after his son took the throne. And in history, it is said that Bala, whom Osman loved, was very beautiful and when she got on a horse, all people were looking her. However, Malhun was always on the battlefield, as his two brothers were martyred in battle and his father had no one but her. A painting and a statue remained from Osman's wives, and each was concluded to belong to a different person. The picture shows a woman wearing a helmet and a war shield, so that's Malhun's picture. But the statue shows a beautiful woman sitting nicely on a horse, so that's Bala’s statue. But that statue was made at the time of Orhan, so that's another reason saying that his mother was Bala. The only wives of an Ottoman king who had friendly relations with each other were Bala Hatun and Malhun Hatun, who always helped each other in affairs and loved each other's children. It is very likely that Malhun had only one child named Fatma. After all, Bala and Malhun were both very valuable for Ottoman Dynasty and very helpful in the establishment of Ottoman Empire. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hastisultan (talk • contribs) 07:46, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
- Lol, this is the biggest load of unsubstantiated nonsense I've read in a long time. You're clearly a KO fan who likes Bala Hatun. No source supports what you say. This is all fabricated. Michelle Tomlinson (talk) 14:15, 23 June 2021 (UTC)
- Yeah it was totally wrong i agree with you 203.81.203.108 (talk) 05:30, 4 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Hastisultan: You'll need a reliable source to support this detail, which I suspect you just copied from some unreliable source or blog. IronManCap (talk) 14:35, 23 June 2021 (UTC)

editMalhun Hatun, Mal Hatun, Mala Hatun or Kameriye Hatun (d. November 1326) is the mother of the second Ottoman sultan Orhan Gazi and one of the wives of Osman Gazi.
Mal Hatun Tomb, located in the easternmost part of Sheikh Edebali Zawiyah and with a lower floor, is covered with a dome with body walls made of rubble stone on a square plan. The floor difference between both buildings has been eliminated with a few steps of stairs.

Malhun hatun Grave
editmany people are confused about Malhun's grave. Malhun with her children was burried inside Osman's tomb but an earthquake in 1855 damaged Osman's tomb and some graves inside it. And Malhun grave was one of them. It is clearly mentioned on Osman's tomb that there are 17 unidentified stone coffins inside his tomb 203.81.203.108 (talk) 05:32, 4 February 2024 (UTC)
