The best website for Malicorne is this one: http://gnosis2000.net/reviews/malicorne.htm

I notice that the amazon site (and others) refer to the albums using the title of the first track, which is slightly confusing as other sites use a numbering system.

The first four albums were recorded on the label Hexagone. Starting with the compilation "Quintessence", they recorded for Courson's own label Ballon Noir. To the best of my knowledge, this is the history of their labels.

  • Malicorne (1974). A cream-coloured album with a monochrome photograph of the band. Sometimes called "Collin" after the first track. Ussued on (1) Hexagone--193.632/GRI 191252 (2) 2000 Griffe
  • Malicorne 2 (1975) (The Tree-House Album - a drawing of a tree with a house inside). Sometimes called "Le Marriage Anglais" after the first track. Issued on (1) Hexagone--193.652/ GRI 191262 (2) 2000 Griffe
  • Almanach (1976) , Drawing of a branch in the shape of letters "Malicorne" with birds. Issued (1) Hexagone 883007 / Hexagone--239210/DI/760 (2) Antagon Records ALP 3222 (G.-79). (3) 2000 Griffe
  • Malicorne IV (1976). An evening scene with a child pointing at the sky. The stars show the outline of two dragons. Sometimes called "Nous Sommes Chanteurs De Sorne" after the first track. Issued (1) Hexagone 883015/Hexagon--193.712
  • L'Extraordinaire Tour de France... (1978) A photograph of the inside of a train. On the front we see the main character on his own. On the back the band are sitting in the same seats. Issued on (1) Ballon Noir (2) Sony Bmg, Cat.No: GRI 19186 2 (3) 1997 Elektra (4) 2006 Le Roseau
  • Le Bestiaire, (1979) A close-up photograph of a wolf with black fur. Issued on(1) Hexagone (2) 2000 Boucherie Productions--082303 (3) 2006 Le Roseau
  • Balancoire en Feu. (1981) A drawing a of a trapeze artist. Issued on (1) Elektra (2) 1996--Boucherie Productions--082304 (3) 2006 Le Roseau
  • Les Cathédrales de L'Industrie (1986) Issued on (1) unknown (2) 1997 Celluloid, France--66794-2 (3) 2006 reissued on Melodie

England

edit

"Not until 1990 did Gabriel and Marie set foot in England". Absolutely false. They were at the Cambridge Folk Festival, I believe in 1976. It was the first time I heard them. - Jmabel | Talk 07:44, 21 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

You might be right, but I cannot find any evidence for this one the web, nor in any book. Ogg 18:47, 26 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Right.... I've seen them too at the Cambridge Festival before 1980 (together with La Bamboche) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.95.140.212 (talk) 10:35, 14 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thay played in Cambridge (Cambridge Folk Festival) in 1975 and again in the summer of 76.--Mistigri07 (talk) 23:57, 31 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Steeleye

edit

Why are Steeleye Span singled out as an English/British equivalent? I would think that they had more in common with Pentangle. Or even Five Hand Reel. ~- Jmabel | Talk 07:44, 21 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

The first 5 albums might be compared to Pentangle, but the heaviness of their later albums, particularly "Les Cathedrales" is far closer to Steeleye. Ogg 18:47, 26 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Something horrible has happened

edit

Could somebody please take the article called "Malicorne 2" and rename it as "Malicorne 1". The album called "Malicorne 2 Le mariage anglais" can stay as it is. It's quite unacceptable to have two albums called "Malicorne 2". Really the band have brought this upon themselves, and we have to pay the price. Ogg 10:30, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Final show

edit

Re this edit: ok, so this may have been added by a sockpuppet fan. But if that really was their final show, that seems like quite a milestone and very worthy of inclusion. And I know Facebook is not a very good source (although I have no reason to doubt it's 100% true in this case), so maybe we should just re-add this and simply look for better sources? Martinevans123 (talk) 22:01, 24 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Martinevans123: If you feel content is neutral and sourced well enough feel free to revert me. I've just been reviewing a bunch of the sockpuppets for Lurulu I've had to block recently. -- ferret (talk) 22:44, 24 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
No worries. Thanks for the explanation. If that really was their last concert, I guess there's no real rush to add it back. Martinevans123 (talk) 22:45, 24 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
