Boundaries changed

edit

In the Manchester_Central_(UK_Parliament_constituency) page it states "The electoral wards used in the modified Central seat are: Moston, Ancoats and Clayton, Ardwick, Bradford, City Centre, Hulme, Moss Side, Miles Platting and Newton Heath and Whalley Range", contradicting the wards given on this page, referenced to a 2007 document. — Preceding unsigned comment added by No essential nature (talkcontribs) 19:12, 6 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Was arranged alphabetically by surname, so have restored TD to second place. If someone can arrange of a more sensible ordering, feel free to change it though. :) Burfdl (talk) 15:38, 3 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Gerald Kaufman in 1983

edit

I wonder if it should be noted in the results (and possibly elsewhere in the article) that while Gerald Kaufman first became the MP for Gorton in 1983, he had been the MP for Manchester Ardwick since 1970. The Ardwick constituency was abolished for the 1983 election and the redrawn Gorton (which was significantly different to the seat as it existed prior to 1983 with a good chunk of it moving to the new Denton and Reddish seat) took in a large chunk of the old Ardwick. Thus in a sense Kaufman was an incumbent. I feel that as it stands it appears that Kaufman was a totally new candidate, when the reality is for a significant portion of the electorate he was the sitting MP in 1983. I would welcome others' thoughts on this. Dunarc (talk) 22:48, 23 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
