Hello, I would like to know where does this information about the ingredients come from ?
I've always been certified that mantou and other kind of steamed breads didn't contain any milk at all (there may be some exceptions I suppose).
When I search for recipes, none of them show any milk in the ingredients, when I asked when I was in China and other Asian countries, I never heard there was milk in those. That makes sense as milk isn't a traditional food there. Some industrial processed food may contain some I guess but I hardly believe that the usual/traditional recipes contains milk or milk powder... Could anyone confirm this ? Thanks.
So, 9 years late, but sometimes they absolutely are made with milk (but not always). Really all you need to make them is water, flour, sugar, salt, oil, and yeast, but milk makes them whiter and is common. The Jade Knight (talk) 03:49, 26 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
