Manganese(II) nitrate is prepared from manganese dioxide and nitrogen dioxide: MnO2 + 2 NO2 + 4 H2O → Mn(H2O)4(NO3)2 is incorrect since it starts with Mn(IV) and there is no reductant. It should read: MnO + 2 NO2 + 4 H2O → Mn(H2O)4(NO3)2 2001:1C04:800:3C00:649A:57FC:C533:6614 (talk) 08:49, 25 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

"is incorrect since it starts with Mn(IV) and there is no reductant." NO2 is the reductant. Fundamental pattern: a metal is reduced by addition of radical to a ligand. --Smokefoot (talk) 14:55, 25 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
