- Thanks for posting. I cropped it to make the bird bigger, and inserted it. I suppose the subtitle could mention that he is only pretty certain it is a mbh, but it is listed in the picture info. 184.69.174.194 (talk) 01:12, 12 February 2019 (UTC)
Nominate is confusing! Help!
editThis section in the lead needs clarification for non-biologists.
"but all individuals from western Panama and northwards are nominate common black hawk."
My mind wants a plural "hawks", "all individuals are _____ hawks", or a better sentence to state it in layman's terms while introducing the word "nominate", which is spelled the same as the more common elective process. TX
- Also, it would be helpful if an ornithologist could weigh in on what the defining difference is that makes it a subspecies. Is it just range, or is there morphology involved. 184.69.174.194 (talk) 00:24, 12 February 2019 (UTC)
