A couple of years ago @Britishfinance: boldly merged Asessippi Ski Area here. While I'm a fan of bold merges (I've done several myself), I'm wondering if the ski area would make more sense at Rural Municipality of Riding Mountain West. Manitoba Escarpment is a geology landform type article and the RM is more of a geography type article. I'm not going to boldly move it over; I want to create discussion on this (maybe I'm wrong). Thoughts? Masterhatch (talk) 12:52, 11 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Looking through the uses of{{Infobox ski area}}, the vast majority are used in standalone articles, which would argue for undoing the splitmerge and leaving a stub. I did find Cairn Gorm, which is an article about both a mountain and a ski area. If we follow that precedent, then it would make sense to keep the ski area merged here, because this is the "mountain" that the ski area is on. I haven't seen any uses of the infobox in an article about a town, although I haven't looked carefully through all 807 transclusions. — hike395 (talk) 04:41, 12 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
I can count the number of edits that I've made on active ski hills on hand as that's not an area I'm usually interested in. After I made that post, I did a little more looking around and saw it was common to have stubs for ski hills, just like it's common to have stubs for airports (List of airports in Saskatchewan & List of airports in Manitoba). No one's talking about merging those, nor should they (IMHO). You suggested splitting the article back up. I agree that that might be the right course to take.
