Dear sir
I am very interested in the article on Manley James for the following reason. I play golf at Long Ashton Golf Club in Bristol. There is a competition named the Manley James Cup presumably in honour of this man who was a member at the golf club. I discussed the matter with the secretary yesterday (Thursday 4th May 2006) and the golf club is taking active steps to create a monument or something in his honour. The secretary told me that his son survives but is not very well although I have no further details of this. He also advised me that the location of the VC is presently unknown.
I would be fascinated to receive any further relevant information on this man, his history or whatever. Coincidentally I see he was buried at Canford Cemetary, both my parents are also buried there.
Peter Dodd.
