"Incompetence"
editI think it is pretty obvious that Gomes da Costa's "incapability" for office was a pretext Carmona used to remove his fellow officer from the presidency. Carmona exerted a lot of effort to cement this idea of an incompetent Gomes, but he wanted to as this was an act of abject disloyalty towards a senior officer, and he needed to counter the idea of "regicide" from within the ranks. But while Gomes' actions were sometimes erratic, one needs to keep in mind that the situation was chaotic and Carmona's own decisions could also be contradictory. I've amended the text. --Ilja.nieuwland (talk) 10:22, 27 December 2016 (UTC)
