3DS Sequel.

edit

There was a Nintendo 3DS sequel called Maple Story: Girl of destiny.

Wrong info.

edit

After a talk with a Asiasoft employee they told us: MapleStory DS is NOT a MMO, it will have 2-4 player party mode 2 player PvP and Single player mode, there is also no knowen date of when it is going to come out, i have posted this stuff onto this article before, it was changed back, someone proberbly listening to rumors about it. Your MapleStory character will NOT be transferred over to your DS. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mowshmollo (talkcontribs) 18:41, 31 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Why that image?

edit

It's not even official, it may confuses players and fans. Joppyhoppy 13:29, 26 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

it looks nice —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mpfterd (talkcontribs) 17:26, August 23, 2007 (UTC).

It must have modified content.

edit

MapleStory is a 300+MB game. The DS has 256MB cartridges. The game requires 64MB RAM. The DS has 4MB RAM. 1024x768 vs. 256x192, the list goes on and on. The Captain Returns 03:09, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Surely the game won't be an EXACT port of the PC version. It will probablby be a side-scrolling adventure/RPG style game with toned-down graphics and such =). Deiaemeth 05:40, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

All we have is speculation. For all we know, it is that the DS will have "bonus maps", and so forth.

The fact that the DS can display 256x192 only should give you a tip off btw. That would mean that images can be recompressed into the cartridge. (instead of super-high resolution images, MS DS may only have low-resolution images, which in tern save cartridge space).

So until official information is released; I say we keep this "fact" till we can verify it. :-) --Dragontamer 06:21, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

The RAM problem can be solved with an extra RAM cartridge to be slotted into the GBA port of the DS, the Opera Internet Browser for the DS will have one so it won't be too difficult to include one with MapleStory DS and i have one question, where is some hard information if they are really producing this game, besides that Korean IT news website? lil_naruto 27 June 2006

Well, sorry people who consider this useless, but I am very excited about this title coming out onto the DS. Being a mapler myself, This will definately benifit Wizet(the company whom makes MapleStory) and will increase the wide range of players who will love this amazingly addicting game. I've heard about the problems about size matters, but yes, I have a tingly feeling that with no doubt it will come with a ram cart. --Demod 08:50, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

This information is writted by a reporter, and Nexon not verity it, so we can regard "Maplestory DS" just as a gossip, not a regular words in Wikipedia. I suggest that the article must add an annotation "This content not an offical notice", to prevent misapprehension. --axiang1980 03:24, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

What's your point? A wikipedia article is for collecting known information, not introducing new ideas and speculation that has not been preivously published. This line of argument isn't going to contribute to the quality of the article....unless somehow you think we can find relevant facts about this TheBilly 13:01, 23 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ok, changing the subject back to the topic. Maybe it has no basic version (non-Wi-Fi)? Even so, maybe the DS could hold only the necessary files to run the game, and the online server could hold the rest? Also, y'know, the DS wouldn't have much to save in Keysettings (There's only 8 buttons for crying out loud!) Plus, the resolution of the DS is obviously tiny in comparison with a normal computer monitor, saving more space. Eric55673 17:30, 1 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Well DS is a touch screen so, the bottom could be used a the buttons and top as game play screen. or visversa.

  • Do keep in mind-- since the DS game wouldn't have to interface through an operating system like Windows, it can use the system resources it has much more efficiently. It's entirely possible that a slightly toned-down version of this game would work just fine without the need for extra stuff. Darkwhistle 08:04, 16 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Eric55673, the Ds mode is supposed to have 15 hours of single player and besides, downloading the game from the server everytime would take way too long. Noobeditor 20:02, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

now, when you say MB, do you mean megabytes or megabits? because if you mean megabits, then the ds can handle that. if however, you mean megabytes, that's even worse for the ds, as the ds can only support ds cards up to 1 gigabit, which is equal to about 125 megabytes.

Okay...If maplestory were fully ported to the DS, tell me one thing. How will Nexon/Wizit compensate for the large number of buttons the DS does not have when compared to a keyboard? 72.241.165.155 05:08, 29 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Why are people commenting on the keyboard? This game is no way a direct port of the PC version to the DS. It is its own game design for the DS. And Yes there will more then likely be a keyboard on the touch screen. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.68.53.4 (talk) 01:09, August 28, 2007 (UTC)

Simple. D pad for arrows, L to jump then face buttons then face buttons plus R for a total of eight hotkeys. Noobeditor (talk) 01:55, 29 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

2009?!

edit

Geeze, by that time Nintendo DS 5 will be out. Malamockq 13:33, 23 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • Update: It will now be released in mid-2008 in North America (still, the Wii will be the hype then, not the DS)

Release Date

edit

Is coming out in september for korea and u.s.a only

Would not '2007' be better than 'early or late 2007'? Seeing as apart from early and late, there really aren't all that many other parts of 2007. I guess there's middle, but who's going to announce that their game will be out either at the start of the year or the end, but not middle? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.152.168.224 (talk) 17:01, 31 December 2006 (UTC).Reply

Wait... what?

edit

I thought MapleStory DS was confirmed to be just a series of mini-games, no source ever even suggested it being a port of the MMO.

'Rumours are floating around about the control system of the Maple Story game on Nintendo DS. It is rumoured that the touch screen is used to access menus, and cast skills and spells. While the buttons are used to control attacking and moving around the game world. It has been said that the characters created in Maple Story DS will be able to access the servers for the PC based version of Maple Story.·

Not only that, but this section is poorly written and not cited. The Captain Returns 23:54, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

...Never mind. The Captain Returns 23:03, 11 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

If the DS characters are accessible on the PC, will it be vice-versa if you already have a PC account? Ph10 20:30, 11 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

That fact has no source and is purely speclation. Unless someone has proof i reverted the article to not contain the speculation.Lozmaster 16:07, 22 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Genre?

edit

How is Maple Story DS considered an MMORPG if it only supports 2-4 player party modes and 2 player PvP modes? Is this game actually going to be an MMORPG? Or is it going to be a watered down port of the MMORPG on the DS. From what I have read, it seems like this may just be an RPG with certain MMORPG-esque elements, thus making it NOT an MMORPG. --Mpfterd 17:37, 23 August 2007 (UTC) i saw it it it totally not like the pc version it has a story and for each level you have to kill a certain number of monsters —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.107.183.155 (talk) 22:46, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • Hmm good point... I don't think DS can handle THAT much wireless connections for it to be a MMORPG.

a question

So, is it going to be an online thing like the computer game or is it going to be a single-player quest thing? 130.13.99.152 01:58, 13 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

no one really knows, but it doesn't seem like it will be online. 71.131.20.3 (talk) 00:13, 18 December 2007 (UTC) Darksea, 12/17/07Reply

isn't it going to be the first MMORPG on the ds and also who edited the it is going... so that it looked better and also to the person umm taiketo it has been confirmed to be multiplayer mostly and also to the person who said it was going to be mostly minigames where did you read that? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.75.74.161 (talk) 00:38, 27 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speculation.

edit

Almost everything on this page is speculative or just plain wrong. It needs revision, right now it's just fooling people. I'm not sure of the correct information, but the release date is TBA, not Dec 25th, and it has been confirmed to be mostly single player. Taiketo (talk) 18:55, 16 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

No one really knows much about it, we should remove all the speculation or specifically mark it in a rumor section perhaps. Noobeditor (talk) 01:56, 29 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

September 2009

edit

If I'm not mistaken the realease date for Maplestory DS in North America is set for sometime in September of 2009. Knowing Nexon it will be delayed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ninjamastr (talkcontribs) 01:40, 30 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

If you can find a reliable source, then go ahead and add it to the article (along with the reference). However, if it's just hearsay or rumor, it's best to leave it out until it's announced officially. Nexon delaying it will be no surprise, but again, you need sources. xP Skyezx (talk) 01:49, 30 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Actually no its 2010 now and its still not in any store. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.34.224.41 (talk) 11:41, 3 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

2011, 3DS released and not a single word from Nexon about this game. It's NOT going to be released in english. 187.126.60.145 (talk) 18:14, 25 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

So... I guess none of the actual buttons will used in the game and only the stylus and (or) wriststrap will be used

edit

And the rating will most likely be E10+ in the US only because of our strict rating.--Seru Mun (talk) 19:45, 14 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Also it cannot and will not be a 'WiFi'MMORPG rather than just a game and nothing more but taking away connection to others therefore takes the whole out of the game.--Seru Mun (talk) 01:36, 28 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

메이플스토리 DS, not 메이플 스토리 DS

edit

I'm Korean, and I can read a few things. MapleStory is MapleStory, not Maple Story. so it's like: meh ee pul su toh ri and that is a funny way to say maplestory. Jeremjay24 (talk) 16:23, 7 July 2009 (UTC) Reply

What's with that Plot paragraph?

edit

I mean, REALLY, it's completely messed up. It should feature an introduction to the game plot, a general look at the whole story of the game, explain why there are four different plots going on, etc. The way it is now it's just a spoilerpalooza, not enciclopedic at all. Also, we need sources, not original research. Does anybody have any success finding reviews of this game? ༺ gabrielkfl ༻ [talk] 18:21, 25 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
