Accuracy

edit

I am not sure that this article is particularly accurate. I think the original author has somewhat confused the histories of Canada Packers, Maple Leaf Mills and the subject of the article. I will do a rewrite as soon as I can, but in the meantime I thought it prudent to attach the {{dispute}} tag. --Skeezix1000 (talk) 22:24, 12 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Maple Leaf Foods logo.gif

edit

Image:Maple Leaf Foods logo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

boycott

edit

I recall at some point there were TV advertisements advising customers to boycott Maple Leaf foods due to a strike of some sort. Now Maple Leaf advertisements are all "We put people first and totally not a company that would prompt a strike" - anybody know any of the details regarding this?

recall

edit

Should there be a list of recalls? They just recalled cold cuts from McDonald's Canada and Mr. Sub. 70.51.10.38 (talk) 10:05, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

It might be appropriate to include a mention of the recall, keeping in mind however that we don't want to fall victim to WP:Recentism. A list of recalls is not really necessary -- Wikipedia is not a directory. --Skeezix1000 (talk) 12:56, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Added a mention of the recall without a complete boring list. (([User wpostma])) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.71.42.79 (talk) 22:13, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

leeconne:

i request a list of recalls. i agree with wpostma.

  • I suggest making mention of how to tell if your product is recalled or not. It doesn't require a complete list of recalls: each package includes a number code which identifies what plant the meat was processed at. I think the code should at least be mentioned, some people might come to this article hoping to find out how to tell if there product is recalled. (I did, I was hoping to find the code I'm referring to, I saw it on TV but forgot it.) Laverick Phoenix (talk) 14:16, 28 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

history - Swift Canadian Co.?

edit

Does anyone have information on Swift Canadian and its relation to Maple Leaf? Swift isnt mentioned in the article, but this probably-non-RS site [1] describes Maple Leaf as the 'successor firm of Swift Canadian'.Dialectric (talk) 15:11, 23 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

I see lots of edits from SPAs from IP addressees near the HQ of this company that seem designed to portray the subject in the best light possible. There is other off-wiki evidence that I cannot disclose without violating Wikipedia's privacy rules. 2603:3004:609:700:E492:3D0B:6B6A:760C (talk) 11:28, 18 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

I found another SPA that removed some very negative information regarding an anti-trust investigation. This all looks really bad.2603:3004:609:700:E492:3D0B:6B6A:760C (talk) 13:17, 18 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
