Talk:Marauders (Harry Potter)
From Talk:The Marauders
editRestore suggestion
I come with this proposal to restore this page but with different contents from that in the past. The idea is to get all four characters into this page as they have common background, common characterization, and this is also to avoid getting some pages like Order of the Phoenix larger with new additions.
This changes include a proposal to merge Sirius Black into this article so that it can completely fulfill its objective. This is also because Sirius article is among the worst written of HP characters article, most of it is plot re-tell (which violates Wikipedia:WAF) and the Notability of the subject has not been proved.
There is surely much more content to prove the Notability of the Marauders all in the same page, which is what Sirius Black alone has failed to meet, and what James, Lupin or Wormtail failed to prove before their mergers. The contents of this page will include a Concept and Creation section, a main section with general background and the contents of each Marauder, and a reception with reliable secondary sources. Thoughts? --LoЯd ۞pεth 22:56, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
- It's been over a week and no messages (and most important no opposition) have come, so Sirius's merger is being performed and the sections about James, Lupin, Wormtail and the Marauder's Map are moved to Marauders (Harry Potter). --LoЯd ۞pεth 03:58, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
Name
editShould it be mentioned that "Marauders" is a fanon term, derived from "Marauder's Map"? Note that the possessive apostrophe indicates that there is just one marauder, i.e. the user of the map. Other than that, this is a comprehensive article, with a couple of redirect problems though. -- THE DARK LORD TROMBONATOR 04:35, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
- According to Jo's official site, "James, Sirius, Remus and Peter dubbed themselves ‘marauders’, hence the way they titled the map." Source: Jo's official site. --LoЯd ۞pεth 06:30, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
- I'm 99% sure the term "Marauders" is used to describe the group itself in DH, making it canon? tphi (talk) 08:03, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
- Wow. Totally did not know that. -- THE DARK LORD TROMBONATOR 09:13, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

Split proposal
editI come with this proposal to split the contents of this page into existing articles for several reasons. First of all, the article is entirely written in in-universe format, thus violating WP:WAF. It also has not managed to prove the group's notability. And the moving of characters would improve the suggested articles. I propose to split this page like this:
- James, Sirius and Lupin to Order of the Phoenix
- Wormtail to Death Eaters
- Marauders' Map to Magical objects
The information from the Synopsis is almost covered in each character's section, but maybe there are a couple of lines that can be moved to the suitable character. Thoughts? --LoЯd ۞pεth 03:20, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
- A week has passed and there are no objections. Therefore, the sections are moved as suggested and the page redirected to Order of the Phoenix for practical reasons: all of them (including Wormtail) were members of the Order, and there are many links to James are given through Marauders (because a real James Potter exists). --LoЯd ۞pεth 22:02, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
