Contested deletion
editThis page is not unambiguously promotional, because... Marc Sebastian is an activist and founder of the LGBTQ activist group, Voices 4. I think it is actually appalling that someone would tag this page for speedy deletion, especially during Pride Month where the queer community is already under attack. I’m also not really certain why anyone would consider this entry to not be an important one to have as part of this site. Aside from being a notable person as a model, designer, and stylist- which Wikipedia has MANY entries on people like this alone, Marc Sebastian most notably is an activist whose work has exposed homophobia in the fashion industry and who has inspired movements all over the world with Voices 4. As an educator, GSA sponsor, and mother , I can tell you that our children need role models like Sebastian and they need to be able to easily access information on these individuals because it inspires them to be who they are and see all that they can accomplish despite the fact that the world is so quick to want to silent them. Do not silence LGBTQ+ People and delete this page. The queer community already is fighting an uphill battle and I’m just shocked that we have to fight to keep representation of Queer role models and activists on Wikipedia because someone deemed it not important enough to have on Wikipedia. Please do not be tone-deaf to what our queer community is facing, our young people need our heroes and Marc Sebastian is exactly that. The whole point of Wikipedia is the need of encyclopedic entries, yes? There’s nothing here that isn’t noteworthy- there’s nothing here that isn’t encyclopedic. Here we have a person who, despite facing struggles in his life, made a career for himself in the fashion industry- but he didn’t stop there. He used his skills to stand for the queer community with Voices 4 and all of the work he’s done independent of it as well. It feels like deleting this entry would be an attack on the queer community as if those that fight for it aren’t important enough to be part of this site, please do NOT send that message and delete this entry, after all, there really is no valid reason to get rid of it. ) --KPiekarski314 (talk) 13:22, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
