editI have never heard him referred to as Sisniega Campbell. In tournament reports and elsewhere, I see Marcel Sisniega. However, perhaps his name should be Sisniega-Campbell?--Jrm2007 (talk) 10:15, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Torre Relationship and Miscellaneous
editI believe he was taking lessons from Carlos Torre Repetto near the end of the elder player's life. Since Sisniega is said to be the first Mexican GM, I suspect Torre's title was honorary?
I met him in 1975 when he was studying at Sacramento State University (as a 15 year old). I would be interested in reading more about him -- he was obviously a remarkable person who seemed to be successful at whatever he turned his hand to.--Jrm2007 (talk) 05:40, 7 April 2014 (UTC)
Birth place
editAccording to the Enciclopedia de la literatura en México, Marcel Sisniega was born in Chicago. http://www.elem.mx/autor/datos/1021. Other sources have him born in Cuernavaca where he grew up, but I suspect Chicago is correct.
His mother Lola Sisniega nee Campbell is an artist, probably American, but haven't found a RS in English. His brother Ivar Sisniega and daughter Sofia Sisniega are also notable in their respective fields.
Might also be worth including a game or two, he apparently had quite a spectacular attacking style. MaxBrowne (talk) 04:59, 14 March 2018 (UTC)
- [1] Sofia Sisniega confirms that he was born in Chicago. MaxBrowne (talk) 05:35, 14 March 2018 (UTC)
