My print sources at hand are strangely silent on Carniola. However, internet searches reveal four common dates for the founding of the march. It was either 1045 or 1054 under Henry III, or perhaps 1012 under Henry II, but then it may have been during the Carolingian era (9th or even 8th century, certainly by the advent of the Magyars). I cannot tell what is correct. If anyone can help before I can do more research in a library, please edit this page with sources. Srnec18:21, 26 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
