Good Article

edit
It's a short article, but what is there seems well written
References are few, much of the article needs citation. But hey, this isn't FA nomination, their there, their just not very amazing. However, be careful of OR if you don't have references for things. Referenced
Broad in its coverage, well, hmm, its short, but if this is mostly all there is, whaddya gonna do, eh? Broad
Yea, its NPOV
Stable, last edit was on the 18th I think.

Failed Version 0.5 Nomination

edit

This article has been reviewed for inclusion into Version 0.5, and it has been rejected due to quality issues. The article itself lacks detail about Allen's career, particularily the college era. Most importantly, the "College cheating" section needs to be expanded significantly, including his reaction to the allegations, edit counters/Flcelloguy's Tool|help us]]) 05:39, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

College Cheating

edit

It probably shouldn't be it's own section but it should be in the article somewhere.

While being interviewed by Byron Allen, Ronnie Lott said that he and Marcus Allen would not have graduated from college without cheating with the help of Byron Allen.[1] --Gbleem 18:09, 19 June 2006

There has been no comments on this so I'm putting it back in. --Gbleem 14:49, 7 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ronnie Lott and Byron Allen discussing the issue in a taped interview is a reliable source. --Gbleem 22:49, 19 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

They aren't really considered a reliable source, maybe in the Lott article yea, but Lott needs more proof like a admission from Allen that it happen. Also borderline WP:LIVING problem as it's negative and poorly sourced. Even if Allen admitted it, it likely won't be more than a sentence as well and people cheat all the time so it isn't very notable nither. Thanks Jaranda wat's sup 23:00, 19 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

It was Lott and Byron Allen talking about it so you have two of the three people involved discussing it. --Gbleem 10:13, 20 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Allen still needs to confirm it, and it's mostly negative per WP:LIVING (unless he confesses it). Jaranda wat's sup 13:51, 20 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Autobiographies

edit

I see he has written 2 books:

  • Marcus: The Autobiography of Marcus Allen with Carlton Stowers (October 1998)
  • Road to Canton by Marcus Allen (July 2003)

Are they completely different books or is one an updated other? Robert C Prenic (talk) 13:46, 6 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Article only has 7 references, is barely even a c class article. How it got to be a good article status is beyond me. i don't think the reviewer knew what they were doing. - -The Spooky One (talk to me) 21:41, 1 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

I agree, but since there is no response, you should go ahead and delete this. (FYI, its likely this was reviewed when the criteria was much less strict. Also the problem isn't simply the number of references its that way in which they are used, plus there is a whole raft of other problems.)--Jackyd101 (talk) 10:50, 20 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
I see the above user has been banned for sockpuppeting (or something). As he is not around to close this, I will.--Jackyd101 (talk) 23:28, 6 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

OJ Simpson

edit

So the fact that Marcus Allen was a long-time friend of OJ Simpson, cheated on his own wife with Simpson's wife Nicole, perjured himself during the Simpson civil trial, and was intimately involved and possibly a primary catalyst (according to numerous accounts) for Simpson murdering his wife is not worth putting on Allen's Wikipedia page?

I guess Marcus Allen wrote this page. 74.120.176.31 (talk) 20:02, 14 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

If there's multiple reliable sources confirming these rumors as true, feel free to go ahead and include them. Remember to cite these sources when you do, as this is a biography of a living person, and any contentious claim must be adequately supported with inline citations to multiple reliable third-party sources. They must also be given their due weight in proportion to the rest of his life. On that note, Allen is primarily famous as a hall of fame football player in both college and professionally. If the article were reworked to better represent his football career, then MAYBE those "facts" could be included somewhere at the end of the article, if they meet all the criteria above. Until then, they have no place here. Lizard (talk) 20:38, 14 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
Your put "facts" in quotes as if he didn't testify to these things under oath... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.120.176.31 (talk) 21:48, 26 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
