Problematic material

edit

The basic problem with this article, beyond the bare biographical details, is that we only have this cache of letters to draw conclusions from -- and the conclusions reached by different scholars may not agree. I find too little scholarship here and much coloring in of empty black lines by supposition. The first part is OK, but from "Yet she seems to have been routinely dismissed" onward, there is a bad implication of original research, and there are no sources cited for sentence upon sentence, unless you count the primary documents themselves -- making this at least sloppy and at worst original research. Need more sources to back up interpretation of this problematic material (instead of a chummy and intimate "oooh, this is probably what was meant", more like "Smith believes this is what was meant"), and an update pertaining to the writing of the movie -- which will bring interest to this article, possibly misleading readers -- would help as well. I agree. There is nothing in the original sourcing which supports the idea of an affair, just a friendship. Any intimacy was emotional, which was rare enough for FDR, rather then physical. I am editing the article to reflect this.THD3 (talk) 02:47, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Photo?

Can't someone come up with a non-copyrighted photo of Miss Suckley? Preferably of WW II vintage? I don't think I've ever seen a picture of her. --Michael K SmithTalk 00:10, 16 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
