Personal life
editAnother of her blowups almost killed Sam Wood, who was a keen anti-Communist. He dropped dead from a heart attack shortly after a raging argument with Sullavan, who had refused to fire a writer on a proposed film on account of his right-wing views.[28]
This passage is a little confusing. It sounds like Sullavan refused to fire a writer for his right-wing views and that this angered anti-Communist Sam Wood. Could it be she refused to hire the writer? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.76.187.11 (talk) 22:45, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
I stumbled over the same passage. Can't find corroboration either way just now .. Doceddi (talk) 08:45, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
"she got into a spat with director Sam Wood over a writer he wanted to fire and she wanted to keep" https://www.factinate.com/people/margaret-sullavan-facts/
It's not a reputable source, but it does make for sense than our wording here. Doceddi (talk) 08:52, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
" If you can believe one of the more bizarre Hollywood anecdotes, she supposedly once engaged in a “ferocious” debate with the arch-right-wing director Sam Wood over the hiring of a left-wing actor — a showdown so fierce that it may actually have contributed to Wood’s death from a heart attack later the same day." http://www.towntopics.com/may1309/book.php
