editLabeling Mari traditional religion as neopagan is as correct as calling Hindus neopagans. The fact that officially registered organisations focusing on Mari religion were allowed to form only after the collapse of the Soviet Union (which was hostile to existing religious organisations, e.g. the Orthodox Church, and blocked the formation of new ones) does not mean that the tradition is a neopagan one. -- Ohpuu (talk) 08:38, 6 January 2015 (UTC)
- Agreed. I'm going to take a look in to the tags and see if I can get this edited correctly. JanderVK (talk) 22:06, 18 February 2015 (UTC)

Mari Native Religion → Mari native religion – This title seems like more of a descriptive term than the proper name of a specific organized religion, and the body of the article (outside of the opening sentence) uses lowercase to discuss it. — BarrelProof (talk) 01:23, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
- Support - Descriptive. Unnecessary capitalization. Primergrey (talk) 10:09, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
- Support - Descriptive. Unnecessary capitalization per WP:NCCAPS and MOS:CAPS. Searches here, here and here would also indicate this but also that native is not part of the WP:COMMONNAME - ie Mari religion may well be the more appropriate name per WP:CRITERIA. I note that Mari religion is already a redirect to this article and would further evidence that native is redundant. Cinderella157 (talk) 11:02, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
- Removing "Native" also seems appropriate to me, per Cinderella. — BarrelProof (talk) 14:49, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
- Support. The capitalization is nonsense. Super Ψ Dro 17:20, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
- Support per nom. Not a proper name. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:08, 31 August 2022 (UTC)
- Support, most specifically per MOS:SIGGAPS (do not use capitalization as an attempt to "signify" somethign as special or important). This is just a descriptive phrase. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 21:07, 4 September 2022 (UTC)

Mari native religion → Mari religion – Per WP:CONCISE - the proposed name is already a redirect to the article. Cinderella157 (talk) 04:08, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
- This is a contested technical request (permalink). Dr. Vogel (talk) 23:07, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
- I think this one makes sense, and it's entirely possible that there may have been support for it if anyone had proposed this alternative title at the RM that was closed last week. But because of that RM, we can't process this request as uncontroversial. Dr. Vogel (talk) 12:13, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
- That RM ended only about 14 hours ago. The suggested title seems reasonable to me, but was not the title chosen by the consensus in that RM. It may be more prudent to hold a (new RM) discussion about the further proposed refinement of the title. — BarrelProof (talk) 16:39, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
- Eh... I closed this RM and moved to the current title by consensus. Why not just open another RM? Unless I remember it correctly, reopening the current RM would mean that I will have to revert the move. – robertsky (talk) 18:28, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
- Ok let's do it. Dr. Vogel (talk) 23:07, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
