As a victim of one of the Katyn Massacres I wonder if it follows he was a Polish services officer (he was still young enough to call up in 1939)? This question may best be answerable by those with access to Polish sources; I look in vain for any online register of Katyn dead.Cloptonson (talk) 09:21, 8 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
Discovered answer to my own question - his military activities are described in his Polish wikipedia article, which mentions he was a reserve officer in an air regiment mobilized to serve in the Defensive War of September 1939 but contradicts the information from the cited 'List of Olympians killed as a result of war', by stating (with citation) that he had been killed in the Katyn Forest itself where his body was found in the mass graves. I note the current edition of Olympedia used as citation says ambivalently he was killed at Lvow and at Katyn. Also this Polish language article on Polish soccer-players killed in WWII upholds him as a Katyn victim on account of being a Polish Army soldier.[1]Cloptonson (talk) 11:44, 27 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
