What is the source of reference for the reported population of Market Drayton being 10,407? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.12.245.18 (talk) 10:26, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
I question the reference to Sir (sic) Colin Pitchfork. The link leads to a 'plain' Colin Pitchfork, criminal, born at Market Harborough, Leicestershire. Is there some confusion of place names here that has led to a user placing him under Market Drayton?Cloptonson (talk) 13:41, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
What evidence is there for a 'great fire of Drayton'? (The pattern is suspiciously like that of the Great Fire of London 1666.) Such a singular disaster deserves to have a precise year attached.Cloptonson (talk) 17:58, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
Population
Don't know how to add the ONS figures to the right-hand table. ONS states that Market Drayton parish is GSS code E04011313, yet Wiki ignores the standard Population_total template. I'd previously tried to add a reference alongside the figure in the table, but wiki didn't seem to like that either - seems a bit awkward to have to add the pop figure to the main text just so that we can add the reference.
Down to someone who knows what they're doing then! 188.29.166.36 (talk) 22:22, 30 October 2012 (UTC) TallPaul
Oswald Mosley - not born locally
I declare, having tackled the issue in his Wikipedia biography, that while Mosley may have spent time at Betton House as a child I have found no proof he was born there. I first read of the claim he was born there in the early 1980s (just after his death) in a newspaper report of the house at a time it was on sale, but it is not supported by his biographers in the Dictionary of National Biography and ODNB, and the index of Births records show he was born in central-west London (something that was not in his power to manipulate even if the fact may have suited him better). He did not claim to born at Betton in his own autobiography. I am going to rephrase the mention to indicate he was alleged to have been born there although officially registered born in London. The ODNB states that after his parents' separation he moved to Betton Hall but not into the street in Drayton mentioned in this article (I have raised a citation need against).Cloptonson (talk) 08:23, 30 August 2015 (UTC)
The Platinum Needles
I've removed the two links to The Platinum Needles, as they seem to be primary sources. I think we'd need some secondary sources to establish general notability. Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 11:53, 24 January 2017 (UTC)
- FWIW I'd originally removed them as I was going through every town on the 'pedia and removing the pointless external links (schools, unis, bands, hockey, rugby, football etc etc), IMHO we should only include links to historical things or things that are of actual relevance, Cheers, –Davey2010Talk 17:43, 24 January 2017 (UTC)

Recent Changes
Very disappointed to see recent changes to articles that have been on this page for a number of years most notably the "Musicians" article being removed. They were properly referenced and certainly relevant to Market Drayton. As a result some sort of edit war has broken out which is disappointing considering I very much doubt some of the users involved have any local knowledge. I would like to ask that this page be put back to the revision dated 9th December as this looks to be the last reliable article before the vandalism started. As a bit of a silver surfer technophobe I have no idea if this is the right route to resolve this but would be grateful if it could be corrected. Thank you Susan Cox — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.37.181.249 (talk) 03:35, 29 January 2017 (UTC)
- Sorry to be so blunt... but it was nothing but promotional crap and had I known that section existed I would've removed it myself, As I've said to your friend no one needs to have local knowledge to edit an article, In short your band isn't notable and doesn't warrant including in the article. –Davey2010Talk 04:37, 29 January 2017 (UTC)
- Editor blocked for a "hitler" comment. Drmies (talk) 05:06, 29 January 2017 (UTC)
- "The Wiki Hitlers"? Sounds like a great name for a band. Martinevans123 (talk) 14:00, 29 January 2017 (UTC)
- Not a bad idea, Martin. Anyway, the content is not neutral, the bands not notable, and the sourcing atrocious--just a couple of websites. I see that besides the IP there's another editor, Kev inr, both of whom I would like to ask to consider that Wikipedia is a global encyclopedia, not a venue to promote local artists. - There ought to be some mention of music in this article, especially if the town's festival can draw bands with the stature of Faustus: [1]. So I'd urge Susan and Kev to try and concentrate on that. Martinevans123 (talk) 22:49, 29 January 2017 (UTC)

Disappointed that those who know Drayton its history and whats important to its people are stopped from contributing valuable information by people who have no knowledge of the town unfortunately that is at the detriment of Wikipedia. It is noteable that information that had been on here for over 10 years is removed by a user who has no knowledge or connection and uses one small part as an excuse but because they have no life except Wikipedia they feel it is their right to do as they please. A very sad situation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kev inr (talk • contribs) 23:04, 22 October 2017 (UTC)
- Please read WP:COI, Also this is an encyclopedia and as such anyone can edit any article, What is detrimental to this place is people edit warring to insert their unknown band into an article and ignoring warnings and help... that's what's detrimental to this place. –Davey2010Talk 23:21, 22 October 2017 (UTC)
- Please read WP:NPA. Also, I don't see any sources for this material that is allegedly about "its history and whats important to its people". Martinevans123 (talk) 21:47, 4 November 2017 (UTC)
Well quite clearly you haven't looked you have a bias from what I can see and I would like to ask quite simply How would you know? I'm sure I will get bombarded with some stupid justification for your remarks and just like the other user will then follow ALL my edits and delete them just so you all feel superior. Don't worry the future is yet to be written. And if I may draw your attention to the local newspaper The Advertiser you will then see what is history and what isn't but of course you know nothing my friend.... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kev inr (talk • contribs) 23:17, 23 November 2017 (UTC)
