Hi User:Mreditoratlast I saw you removed the PhD and Ambassador suffix and prefix on the basis of "custom". Is that policy or Style Guide suggestions? I'm not objecting so much as trying to learn, but my intuition is that I can't see any downside to including this accurate and verifiable information, but I see the downside to not including it. (On a more positive note, I've really appreciated how much a small handful of editors have quickly created this great article, and I see 3,000 views in the first day, so thanks for being part of that.) [RESPONSE] Hello CT55555! Yes, that custom reflects the general policy to make articles balanced, legible, and clean. For example, right below the name of Amb. Kimani, it tells the story of his official title as the Permanent Ambassador, as well as his doctoral qualifications. To include both "Ambassador" before and "PhD" after his name would be overkill. To add the "overkill" prefixes and suffixed adds little to no substantive value to the page; it only makes it messier by putting the same information twice. As editors, I believe we are in the business of equanimity, balance, objectivity, and cleanliness. That is why I used the word "custom" rather than policy or rule(s)--because this custom reflects the broader policy that I just described. It's a good one. But this is a rebuttable custom. If you believe this this is 'overkill' on my part, I am open to suggestions! But for now, I think this is a good custom reflecting broader best practices of editorial work. Best, User:Mreditoratlast. — Preceding undated comment added 22:56, 24 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi User:Mreditoratlast and thanks for the explanation. I had a perception that my original edit was better, but I don't have strong feelings and I don't want to go against consensus if it has been established elsewhere. I don't propose to revert the edit, thanks for explaining. CT55555 (talk) 14:29, 26 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
