Talk:Martin Smith (Royal Marines officer)

Infobox image

edit

Ideally, an infobox should be topped with a portrait picture of the person in question; IE head and shoulders looking straight at the camera. The rewblack and white File:Martin Smith, Royal Marines.jpg fits this requirement better than a group photo (such as File:British Royal Marines Commandant General Visit and Evening Parade 140718-M-OH106-090.jpg).

If this image, this, or this one could be trimmed, they would make much better infobox images. However, I have forgotten how to ask for this to be done.

Dormskirk, could you explain why you prefer the group photo rather than the B&W portrait? Is is simply because its in colour? Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 18:38, 31 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi - Yes, simply because it is colour. I will try a crop it (or a similar one) to get a head and shoulders. Best wishes, Dormskirk (talk) 18:58, 31 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Hi - Cropped picture (one of the ones you selected) now inserted. Best wishes. Dormskirk (talk) 19:19, 31 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thank you very much! Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 20:05, 31 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
No problem. I agree that the cropped photo looks better than a group photo. Best wishes. Dormskirk (talk) 20:27, 31 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
