The result of the move request was: page moved, and Marty Griffin redirected to L. Martin Griffin. (non-admin closure) Steel1943 (talk) 20:07, 26 December 2017 (UTC)
Marty Griffin → Marty Griffin (baseball) – This article is about a deceased baseball player who had an undistinguished one season career in 1928 in the American Major Leagues. Per WP:COMMONNAME, this move would make room for a name change or redirect to the L. Martin Griffin Jr. Wikipedia article, a BLP of a noted longtime American environmentalist. Few people refer to this Marty Griffin as L. Martin, and those looking for him under Marty Griffin would be better served by this move instead of the “not to be confused with” heading. Thanks! - Support per nom. He was a pitcher who was 0-3 in the majors, so maybe if he had won a game.... Randy Kryn (talk) 12:39, 19 December 2017 (UTC)
- Support, and move Marty Griffin (disambiguation) over the baseline. In ictu oculi (talk) 14:21, 19 December 2017 (UTC)
- Support per nomination, Randy Kryn and In ictu oculi. This 5-sentence stub does not meet the expectation for WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 19:51, 19 December 2017 (UTC)
- Comment - thanks for the support. I think changing the name to Marty Griffin (baseball player) is more accurate, and endorse that version, which I see is already in the works. Jusdafax (talk) 11:31, 21 December 2017 (UTC)
- Other than qualifiers for same-name, same-sport competitors who, as a result, require additional detail, the longtime standard forms have featured only the name of the sport — "(baseball)", "(basketball)", "(volleyball)"... —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 01:42, 23 December 2017 (UTC)
- Either is fine with me, as long as we get it done. Jusdafax (talk) 03:52, 23 December 2017 (UTC)
