Please conform to the guidelines and normal usage. The references section is supposed to be called "references", nothing else. Sources and references are the same thing. Either say "this article incorporates text etc.", or give the link, or both (even if they are the same, you're not contradicting, only giving more information). The way it is now is confusing. And please go to the talk page instead of reverting, it's very impolite. And I had noticed that it was the same source. Piet 15:22, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Inquisition

edit

I read (a newspaper report, no sources) that several of the martyrs were members of the Inquisition and recently responsible for the deaths of members of Lumey's family. Their killing may have been an act of revenge, perhaps a non-Catholic source can be consulted?

Dates

edit

If they were executed on 9 July, how is it possible that they "arrived at Brielle 13 July" ??? I realize that's what the Catholic Encyclopedia source says, but it certainly doesn't make any sense. howcheng {chat} 21:01, 8 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Year they were canonized

edit

I see 1865 here, but the article for Nicholas Pieck, one of these martyrs, says 1867. Please reconcile, and put a note in this talk section when that's done. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.63.16.20 (talk) 15:22, 9 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

While a number of sites mention 1865, I suspect they got their information from this article. Oxford Reference says 1867. More persuasive in an article regarding a picture commissioned for the canonization, "...as part of the grand celebrations to mark the 1800th anniversary of the martyrdom of Peter and Paul AD67.[1] Have changed it to 1867.
