Which text version and accent is the original Christmas version?

edit

This Christmas carol exists in so many different versions and grammar... Some of them saying "Chris-ta-mas", "Joseph and he wife" etc. I think it would be a great addition to this page if somebody could sort out what the original Christmas text was, and which accent it was written in! It says there were mostly "West Indians" at the party, but does that mean the Christmas version of the song was written in "West Indian" accent, and if so, which one? Is it Jamaican English or something else? Quark538 (talk) 09:38, 31 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Comparison with Bingo melody

edit

Unless a citation linking some old version of the Bingo melody is provided, I would be inclined to removed this reference, as the currently used melody for Bingo is only very vaguely similar to that of the "Hark now hear" part of this song. Gibberbyte (talk) 11:49, 27 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
