Conflict of Interest clarification

edit

Someone asked if I have a "close personal connection" to the subject. I suspect this is because my username is "ndickinson". I am not related to Mary Norris Dickinson, although my Dickinson name does come from ancestors who lived in Pennsylvania during Mary Norris Dickinson's lifetime. My interest in creating the article is because I am familiar with the cultural beliefs of the Quakers and was raised in later nonreligious generations that were still based in this economic, political, cultural thinking; I thought that this perspective would be helpful to those not familiar with it. Also, isn't Mary Norris Dickinson' biography, including her activities, her learning and library, her property ownership, her marriage to a founding father in a civil ceremony, her politically diverse and active family, etc. highly relevant to the cultural origins and meaning of our Constitution? • Thanks for the clarification. As far as Dickinson's relevance in any respect, the answer to that would fall under personal opinion. If there are reliable and independent sources that share that opinion, we can make the statement in the article that "So and so in the something newspaper/journal/book states that Dickinson is highly relevant, etc. to the cultural origins and meaning of our Constitution." If nobody else is saying it, we can't say it here. Let me know if you have any questions about the editing changes and MOS revisions I made to the article. You can remove the COI template on the top of the article. Based on your clarification, I don't see an issue. Best regards, Cindy(talk to me) 01:27, 3 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

I took off the COI tag, given the above. Many of the other tags seemed a bit silly as well, e.g. the "citation needed" for calling John Dickinson a "Founding Father". It's always better to help than to tag. Imagine what would happen if I put a tag on this page "There are too many tags on this page"! Everybody, hopefully, will take advantage of this and improve the article where needed.

Hope this helps,
