This entire article could use a strong edit. It's generally poorly written and is full of indefinite antecedents that make it difficult to follow. User:Henrymrx claimed this article of falling victim to WP:TRIVIAL, WP:UNDUE, and WP:PEACOCK in this edit. I disagree, primarily because the same style and thoroughness brought Mark Sanchez to GA and the 2007 USC Trojans football team to FA. Therefore I will address the "controversial" material here:

• First, I agree on the unsourced line about Kiper and Stafford. While I know Kiper made the call, it was snuck into the article by another editor and I also don't see the relevance. It does sound a tad peacockish.
• The three-way quarterback battle was covered heavily by the LA Times, ESPN, and other major college football sources. In fact, anyone who read any national college football news in the Spring heard about the battle, and how Barkley proved to be a quick study. The section is sourced. If anything, this is the most relevant section that was deleted, and is central to why Barkley is even notable. Since this article, like all articles, will hopefully reach GA status, it makes sense to build the sections accordingly.
• The personal information is vital to any article eventually getting GA status. There is no reason to delete harmless, sourced information about his personal life that were sourced by media such as the LA Times, The Orange County Register, and ESPN. This isn't trivial, nor is it undue.

At this time I fail to see any major problems with the article, everything is sourced and the goal of the project is to offer readers a thorough view of the subject --particularly when they've been notable enough to warrant such attention by the major media. --Bobak (talk) 07:58, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

Not everyone there agreed with you. Again, your argument is irrelevant here. Personal sections are for the man's life outside of football, its not a trivia section. Unless you can make an argument for eliminating Mark Sanchez or other GA athlete article's section, your arguments fail here. Sorry, all your various attempts boil down to a thin Wikipedia:IDONTLIKEIT argument, which isn't relevant and assumes no good faith on my part (despite the fact that I've put together GA and FA articles in this area). --Bobak (talk) 20:23, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

Fight on!

The "Fight On" sign is meant to be a victory sign. USC fans just tend to say "fight on" when they do it. Back when they had the Yell Leaders, they even called to the crowd to put up their "victory signs". --Bobak (talk) 19:53, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Infobox should include college info

The infobox should include the info for his days at USC, which is by far what he's better-known for. I realize the infobox is probably designed only for NFL but it can be modified (using a forked version of the template) or an additional college infobox can be added. Thousands of players (indeed, most of them) played in college and NFL and it's important to include both. Especially for players who peaked in college, their college info is the most relevant to readers. We should give them quick stats. Thanks. 98.247.93.88 (talk) 10:38, 30 November 2015 (UTC)
